Leisure Time
In their free time students have access to sports, cultural, social and religious activities.
In the boarding section’s recreation rooms, students have the opportunity to play, listen to music, cook, party, read or just sit and enjoy each other’s company. They have access to the Internet. A private chapel is available to those who wish for time alone and to sit in peace and quiet.
Assorted opportunities for sports are offered. A wide range of outdoor and indoor sports facilities are open to our boarding students: two sports halls, a tennis court, two outdoor football fields, volleyball courts, a basketball court, and a fitness and a weight room. The students can also profit from the rich variety of leisure activities offered in Engelberg itself: golf, ice-skating, curling, skiing, snowboarding, fixed-rope climbing, bike-riding, skating, and jogging. In cooperation with the local mountain cableways, our students can participate in winter sports at a discount rate.
The arts also play an important role at our school. Students can learn to play an instrument at the Engelberg Music School, play in ensembles or sing in the Stiftschor (choir of the Stiftsschule). The boarding section has several rooms that have been equipped for music-making.
Boarders may bring mobile phones, computers, iPads, and similar devices. The lower grades have to hand in this equipment during study times and at night; the middle grades have to hand in their devices during the evening study period.
The boarding rules provide a framework for the boarders.
